SAMERAH BORHOT
Barrister and Solicitor
Borhot Law
I am a native Calgarian and mother of 5 children. The career choices I have made reflect my passion for serving people. Lawyering is my 3rd career path after teaching and owning and operating a successful restaurant.
I have practiced law in the lovely community of Inglewood since my admission to the Alberta Bar in 2012. My main practice focus is the drafting of Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Personal Directives; Probate Applications; Estate Litigation; and Adult Guardian and Trustee Applications. In addition, our firm offers legal services in the areas of corporate law and real estate law.
The importance of having a Will cannot be understated. For those who die without a Will, the appointment of the Executor, the Guardian of your minor children, the beneficiaries, and the distribution of your Estate will be determined by Alberta legislation. A Will is a legal sheet of instruction to your loved ones setting out the way you would like your Estate administered. Keeping your Will up to date eases the burden left on loved ones upon your passing.

JEFF SCHROEDER
CRA, P..Appr
One of the highest net worth possessions of a typical estate is the real estate property or properties. An appraisal of the property’s value is often required as part of the process of the Estate worth determination, prior to or at the time of settlement. As a designated Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) with the Appraisal Institute of Canada for 13 years, I understand the importance of providing an estimate of value, based on a professional analysis of appropriate market data.
In my profession, my clients demand high quality advice and service, many of whom comment on this level of detail when evaluating a property, and later in the reports. I spend time ensuring that the report requested is appropriate for my client’s needs, often educating them in the process. It’s important to understand and care about the importance of listening to my clients’ concerns and answering their questions and being sensitive to the emotional aspects commonly associated with the settlement of estates.
The value proposition that I provide, is that you can be confident that your appraisal requirements are being handled with the respect and care you deserve.

SONJA MACDONALD
Funeral Director & Embalmer
One of the most important things that you can do for your Executor, your loved ones, and your Estate, is to have your wishes for your final disposition, (whether that be burial, cremation, entombment or other method), the ensuing farewell, funeral services, life celebrations and/or memorialization, in place before you pass away.
I have been proudly serving and helping families plan their own (pre-need) or their loved one’s (at-need) final disposition for over a decade. I’ve gained my skills and experience through working with some of the most prominent and long-serving funeral homes in Alberta, with reputations for compassionately guiding families during what is often known as the most difficult time in their lives. I am privileged to share my passion alongside some of the most esteemed funeral professionals in Canada, at Foster’s Garden Chapel here in Calgary.
I currently serve as one of the original members of the Funeral Education Review Committee established by the Alberta Funeral Service Regulatory Board in 2016, and am honored to have served three terms on the board of the Alberta Funeral Service Association.
